holy awesome day batman!
so today was a loooong, fun, exhausting day.
it started out with kneader's all you can eat french toast with andrea, brianon and laura-and we sat outside. yeah-i couldn't believe it either. with all the schizophrenic weather we've been having lately (example: clear & somewhat warm wednesday and freezing & snow friday), i was nervous that today would be super gross but it was clear blue skies and somewhat warm again today!after consuming five pieces of delicious french toast, we headed over to the festival of colors...
it. was. beawesome.
[beyond+awesome, for those of you not in the know;)]
we watched some indian dancing and jam bands for an hour or so until it was time to light the witch on fire (yeah, i don't know...) and throw the colors. the colors are just chalk and once everyone started throwing them around, it formed a cloud that literally blocked out the sun. oh and did i mention we couldn't breathe! so...a little sketch. but overall-super fun.
here's some evidence of our craziness...
before...
after!
ladies!
[from left to right: laura, liz, brianon, me & andrea]
liz and me had the most color-y faces out of the five of us
yeah!
to sum up the rest of the day in ten words or less:
zupas, grey's, private practice, flowers!, finished a huge paper...holla!!!

guess who's back is a bloody (literally) mess...
so i woke up this morning and felt like maybe i had caught the black plague from my fellow plane travellers: total and utter crap. my brain felt like it was about to explode all over the place. not a fun feeling:(
so i missed my morning classes [:(] and went back to sleep. after sleeping for a couple more hours, i felt a ton better. so that was a relief! :)
today's major accomplishment? writing 3/5 of my 'state of fear' paper.
[ps. buzz aldrin was adorable tonight on dancing with the stars-he was counting out loud the whole time haha! and 80 years old! what a good sport:) and in the package he said "i've walked on the moon, now i'm going to dance with the stars." so cute!]

people on planes are disgusting. learn to be in public people!
i'm soooo tired!
up at 5am!
almost missed my flight!
sat by people i'm pretty sure should have bought two seats (aka fatties) and also had the black plague!
watched whip it (awesome!), gentlemen broncos (pretty awful), and pretty much rocked the house at bejeweled!
only ate peanut butter sandwiches & cheez-its the whole live long day!
saw a famous person at the airport!
finally got home at 11pm!
i might already be asleep while i write this, i'm not sure.

don't worry everyone, i still can't body surf!
it's my last day in hawaii:(
recap of the day?
breakfast with danny at the caf, followed by a walk out to laie point.
then we went to hukilau beach and i tried body surfing again. still can't do it. but it was fun swimming around.
at night we watched some fringe (so good!) and then went back out to the beach to try and find some jellyfish (no luck). stef made us some yummy cinnamon rolls and we took some awesome photobooth pics. here are some of my favorites...
[danny's face is awesome & i have stripper hair/bump-its(!)]
[anime-zing!]

ni hao body surfing
today we ate at the famous hukilau cafe for breakfast. it's such a big deal that they borrowed the name for the movie '50 first dates', which is only one of my favorite movies of all time! i had two egg, bacon & cheese sandwiches and they were delicious! stef had ginormous chocolate chip pancakes that sent her directly into a food coma and danny had a ham and egg sandwich.
after the hukilau, we went to the hukilau beach where danny and stef tried to teach me to body surf. it was kind of cold on the beach, windy and whatnot, so i thought the water would be freezing like in california. nope! it was sooo warm! and while there were loosey waves for a while, there were some big fun ones after a while. turns out i can't body surf too well, but i had a fun time playing in the water with danny and stef and our little local friend that stef wanted to smack in the face for splashing her when she just got in.
then at night we went to the taiwan club's kareoke night. it was really fun. danny and i sang an awful version of a whole new world and then we listened to a bunch of chinese kareoke songs. i had a great time! kareoke in any language is fun:)
the night finished up with watching the librarian-a tv movie with dr. carter from er doing indiana jones stuff and vampires, featuring detective beckett from castle. only the best movie ever haha!

ouch ouch ouch
so today danny and stef had school so i thought i'd grab my book and head down to the hukilau beach (literally right across the street from stef's cute house). i had a great time, listening to my ipod, reading a book, swimming in the ocean (until i saw a little school of ten inch fishes swimming by me and freaked out because i was by myself and felt like a shark would be attracted by the fishes and eat me because i was alone. irrational i know...). so after i saw the fishes i got out and headed home. i felt like maybe i'd gotten a little pink, but nothing too bad...
nope.
one giant sunburn later, i am having a hard time walking because the backs of my knees are just fried. also the backs of my thighs, making it super painful to sit on anything. and of course, my back. it's making me feel like i want to walk around topless because if anything (clothes, a person, a tiny speck of dust) touches it, i feel like i want to die. i haven't had a sunburn this bad since high school! sad day:(
[the beach was still super fun though!]
at night, danny and i walked down to the polynesian cultural center and watched the night show, which is dances from all the polynesian countries. it was super rad! if you are ever in hawaii, i totally recommend it! i also recommend eating stef's stew. oh. my. goodness. soooooo good!!!

giant waves that can maybe kill you? yes please!
so today was fun. we were going to go to the hukilau cafe for breakfast, but they only take cash, so we came home and stef made us french toast (!) have i mentioned how much i love this girl? then we went to the devotional on campus, then we came home for a quick lunch, then we headed out to sunset beach on the north shore.
(walking to the bus stop with my brother's roommate dylan)
oh. my. goodness.
the waves are enormous!!! we played in the waves and had lots of fun, then when we were leaving, we went to the bus stop and got rained on. seriously, i was more wet from the rain than i had been in the ocean. it was crazy!
(sunset beach! it's a little bit ridiculous how white i am...)
the evening finished up with some tacos to go and some mystery science theatre 3000. i think i might not go home...

milk is like 7 dollars here. that is ridonk.
so today was kinda crazy. i tried to do some work while danny and stef were at school, but blackboard was being way weird so i couldn't. it was sunny so i thought i'd go down to the beach, but then all of a sudden it started raining cats and dogs. and then i started feeling really sick, so i decided to take a nap. this is when i had some super crazy dreams.
the main people in it were me, danny, stef, taei and justin long. me and stef's moms were in this interior decorating contest and that made it so we were in a magic contest, kind of like the tri-wizard tournament in harry potter. we were in a small boat in san francisco bay and it was an astronomy contest-we had to identify constellations. when we got one right it would fall out of the sky, but the stars were giant lightbulbs that fell in the water and made huge waves. so we got to the last one and it was a hard one and stef all of a sudden wasn't in the boat. we thought she had fallen off, but she hadn't, she just disappeared. justin long all of a sudden was in the water, being attacked by the monster from 'the host'. we managed to rescue him and he kept insisting he knew were stef was. he said she was in one of the houses that our moms had decorated for the contest. so we went to the house and were looking all over the place for her. finally we found her behind the wall in a cupboard. she wouldn't talk and finally justin long pulled a string that was in her mouth and a whole deck of cards came out of her mouth, one card after another. it was really weird and at the end a key with a clue on it came out. that was when i woke up.
so. weird.
so we pretty much just hung out around the house after danny and stef got home from school. i ended up doing some work and then we went grocery shopping. we also dyed stef's hair dark brown-it looks adorable! so, pretty uneventful, but tomorrow we're going to the hukilao cafe for breakfast, then a devotional, then we're going out to sunset beach for all kinds of adventures. i'm pretty psyched :)
also: it rains like crazy out here! it will be really sunny and pretty and then all of a sudden it will just start pouring ridiculous amounts of rain. it's crazy!

aloooooooha!!!
what better way to start a week long vacation than to go get a massage with your new best friend for $13?! laura-we need to do that again pronto :) it was amazing, even though there was an annoying guy there that was breathing all flegm-y and talking real loud and moaning a little. that just made it kind of entertaining.
so i got to the airport this morning (thanks toadie!) and they said my flight to seattle was full and they were paying people to be bumped to a different flight. i went to talk to the gate agent about it and said that if i could still get to honolulu today that i'd be willing to volunteer. she said they could but i'd get there an hour later (ten o'clock). i said that'd be fine and they gave me $400 for being willing to switch. (which means my flight to hawaii basically cost $50!) my inflight movie was 'the blindside'=awesome. it was so stinking goood! and we ended up getting into honolulu at 9:20, only 20 minutes after my original flight had landed.
my cousin denise and her sister jaime came to pick me up from the airport. i had never met them before, but they were really funny and nice. they took me to stef's house (which is called casa de chicas and is blue and adorable) and me and danny and stef went immediately down to the beach, which, guess what-is right across the street from stef's house. (holla!) her roommates are so sweet to let me stay here! i am already having so much fun! i can't wait for all my hawaiian adventures this week!!!

my name is volatile
tonight. was. awesome.
grey's and private practice and brianon and laura and popcorn and peanut m&m's and weird boy stories and road trip planning and just your general awesome-osity.
you know that feeling when you are hanging out with your friends and you can't stop smiling? tonight was that kind of a night.
(and how's this for craziness-had i not moved from san jose at the age of ten, brianon and i would have been in the same ward growing up. her parents live four blocks away from my blue house where i grew up. this is craziness my friends!)

also i saw a drunk guy stand up and then fall flat on his face. it was beautiful.
so i had to steal this from a friends blog because it's pretty much the best thing i've ever seen.
i've been thinking a lot lately about getting a bike. (a beach cruiser to be precise) if you know me even fairly well, you are probably thinking "gasp! a bike?! you can't even ride one." and here's what i say to you-yep. and now those of you who don't know me well are wondering why i can't ride a bike. well, it's a long story...short version is: i got in a terrible accident when i was about 13 and since then i psychologically can't ride a bike. physically, i can't even bring myself to sit on the seat. it makes me freak out. so for the past couple months, when i go to target, sometimes i'll go by the bikes and try to get my mind wrapped around getting on one. a major breakthrough happened when i went home two weeks ago-i was able to actually sit on a bike. no pedaling or anything, but seriously, just sitting on the seat was a major deal.
so now i'm thinking it's time to throw away my fear and get back on the bike. literally. (and figuratively, i suppose.)

Je ne regrette rien
so. after a very delicious burger and movie night with my new best friend laura (haha), i feel quite encouraged. that might be because she said i could do that thing on her harp that sounds like disneyland.
ps. gigi is me when i let all my crazy out.
and
just because this makes me happy...a little grey's :)
It's all about lines...It doesn’t help to get too familiar, to make friends. You need boundaries, between you and the rest of the world. Other people are far too messy. It’s all about lines. Drawing lines in the sand and praying like hell no one crosses them. At some point you have to make a decision. Boundaries don't keep other people out; they fence you in. Life is messy, that's how we're made. So you can waste your life drawing lines or you can live your life crossing them. There are some lines that are way too dangerous to cross. Here's what I know, If you're willing to take a chance, the view from the other side is spectacular.

science'd
i've decided that i am going to use the scientific method to answer an age old question:
do blondes really have more fun?
background research: well, basically life in general. having been a brunette (and also having had: red hair, black hair, and random combinations of all three) my whole life, i know how much fun brunettes have-lots. so i'm switching teams (not in the gross way, in the haircolor way) to find out the truth.
hypothesis: they do if they're in hawaii
now all i have to do is test my hypothesis (boo ya), analyze my data to draw a conclusion, then i will communicate my results to you via this blog. aren't you excited?
(oh and ps i also chopped like 6 inches off--freedom!)
